At the Giving Angels Foundation, our mission is to enhance the daily functioning of a child with special needs from a low income family by awarding grants for essential therapies*, life-changing equipment, essential family bills and specialized camps.
We classify special needs as those children under the age of 21 with any type of physical disability (such as, but not limited to, spina bifida, paralysis, missing limbs) or illness (such as, but not limited to, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, cancer).
In order to help as many families as possible, we have a $500 maximum one-time grant allowance per recipient family (with rare exceptions made at the Board’s discretion). Families who wish to receive assistance must complete an application and submit required supporting documents. To meet our mission of helping low-income families, please note that we have a $50,000 maximum annual income threshold.
Funds are awarded on a case by case basis. The foundation reserves the right to decline any application and/or ask for any additional information regarding the application. We accept applications at any time, but we vote on applications approximately once per month EXCEPT during April (our annual fundraiser) and July/August (our summer break). If your completed application (including ALL required support) is received up to a week before a voting meeting, it will be reviewed at that month’s meeting. If received within a week of a voting meeting, it be will reviewed at the following month’s meeting. Please note, applications will not be reviewed until ALL required support is received.
*We have recently instituted a policy that for families that use therapy on an on-going basis, we will only review applications for therapy payments for one specific future time frame and only if that is presented with a reason for needing payment for this specific time frame only. Our goal is to help children who cannot get therapy without assistance, not become a reimbursement source for therapy companies for therapy already completed. Thank you for understanding.
